Former Ohio State receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba receives huge NFL award

Ohio State players don’t just make it to the NFL, they go on to do big things — especially at the wide reciever position. For further proof of that, look no further than the news that came out on Wednesday when former Buckeye and current Seattle Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba was named the League’s Offensive Player of the Year by the Pro Football Writers of America (PFWA).

To say that Smith-Njigba had a breakout year would be an understatement. All he did was catch 119 passes for a whopping 1,793 yards (15.1 avg.) and ten touchdowns. The yards receiving led the NFL this year and are the eighth most in history.

At Ohio State, Smith-Njigba was a star as well. He was an All-Big Ten performer and still holds the Rose Bowl record with 347 receiving yards, a game in which he led Ohio State to a come-from-behind victory and earned himself the Rose Bowl Offensive MVP.
