Former USC chief of staff Brandon Sosna hires Eric Henderson to NFL

by

On Wednesday, it was reported that USC defensive line coach Eric Henderson will be departing for the NFL’s Washington Commanders. As a result, the Trojans are now in the market for a new DL coach for the 2026 season. Interestingly, USC fans have a former USC administrator that they can blame for Henderson’s departure: Brandon Sosna. The former USC chief of staff is now Washington’s senior vice president of football operations.

Back in 2021, Sosna played an instrumental role in the Trojans hiring Lincoln Riley as head coach. More than four years later, Sosna has ironically made Riley’s job more difficult by hiring away his defensive line coach.

Would Henderson have departed USC for an NFL job regardless? Quite possibly. Still, it is somewhat interesting that of all the teams he could have landed with, it wound up being the one that employs Riley’s former boss.
