Former world champion Michael Hendrikse has died peacefully at his home at the age of 66.

Better known as Mike, the US archer won the compound men’s individual and team events at the 1995 World Archery Indoor Championships in Birmingham (Great Britain), where he competed alongside the father-son duo of Dee and Reo Wilde.

Hendrikse then recorded a top-10 finish two years later at the world indoor championships in Istanbul (Türkiye).

An avid outdoorsman and lifelong archery enthusiast, he remained active in clubs like Whitetail Bowhunters, near his home in Oostburg (Wisconsin, USA), for much of his life.

Hendrikse is survived by a son and daughter.
