Fraser Dingwall: Northampton centre plays down injury concerns

by

England centre Fraser Dingwall has played down injury concerns after he was stretchered off during Northampton’s win over Harlequins at the weekend.

Dingwall was hurt in a tackle on Kieran Treadwell and director of rugby Phil Dowson afterwards confirmed he had been knocked unconscious.

He was treated on the pitch for several minutes by medical staff before being carried off wearing a head brace.

Saints scored 10 tries as they won the game 66-21 and in a post on Instagram, external on Monday, Dingwall wrote: “Enjoying rugby with this lot at the moment.

“Thanks for all the well wishes after the weekend too! I just wanted a snooze after the festive period it seemed but thankfully all OK.”

Northampton are two points clear at the top of the Prem table but this weekend switch to European action for an away Champions Cup tie against Bordeaux – a repeat of last season’s final which the French side won.

A club update on Dingwall’s condition is expected to be given on Wednesday.

Northampton have won two out of two in their group so far.
