Freddie Clarke: Newcastle Falcons sign forward from Gloucester

Freddie Clarke has signed a one-year contract with Newcastle Falcons after nine years at Gloucester.

The 32-year-old, who can play in the second row or back row, played more than 200 games for the Cherry and Whites, including 23 appearances last season, after joining them from London Scottish in 2016.

In 2022, the 6ft 5ins (1.96m) player was called into an England training camp by then coach Eddie Jones but has not been capped internationally.

Newcastle director of rugby, Steve Diamond, told the club website:, external “Anyone who’s watched the Prem in recent years will know that Freddie’s a quality player.

“He’s got vast Prem experience, he’s still in great nick physically and he plays across several positions, which gives us real flexibility in the pack.”
