Freestyler/IMer Sarah Pelinkovic Pledges 2027 Verbal to Iowa Hawkeyes
NEW COMMIT: The University of Iowa has scored a verbal commitment for the 2027-28 season and beyond from Sarah Pelinkovic of Hinsdale, Ill. She is a Futures qualifier who excels in freestyler and IM.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I’m so incredibly excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Iowa!! I’d like to thank my family, friends, and Coach Barber, Dave and Brian for supporting and helping me through this process. I would also like to thank Coach Nate and the entire Iowa coaching staff for this amazing opportunity. Go Hawkeyes!!”
Pelinkovic does her club swimming with FMC Aquatic Club. Last summer, she finaled in three events at Minneapolis Sectionals where her highest finish was an 11th-place showing in the 400m free. She then went on to clock four best times at Madison Futures.
Her best times include:
- 100 free – 51.80
- 200 free – 1:50.06
- 500 free – 4:56.00
- 1000 free – 10:11.64
- 400 IM – 4:29.64
Currently a junior at Hinsdale Central High School, Pelinkovic placed sixth in both the 200 free and 500 free at the 2025 Illinois State Championship while helping her team to a runner-up finish in the 4×100 free relay. She took ninth in the 500 free at the state meet during her sophomore season.
Pelinkovic is a great pickup for the Hawkeyes. Her best time in the 200 free and 1000 free would’ve ranked third in their lineup last year while her top 400 IM and 500 free time would’ve been fourth.
