India National Cricket Team head coach Gautam Gambhir was involved in an animated chat with the captain Suryakumar Yadav after the end of the second T20I of the five-match series against the Australia National Cricket Team.

Team Australia and Team India locked horns with each other at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday, October 31, and after a thrilling battle, the hosts registered a 4-wicket win.

India had lost the ODI series on the Australia tour after losing back-to-back matches, and victory in the last game meant that the series finished with a 2-1 scoreline.

After that, the action moved towards the T20I series – the format in which India are the strongest at the moment. The first match in Canberra was washed out after India got off to a great start with the bat.

Then, in the second T20I, India were invited to bat first in the match, and they delivered a horrible performance with the bat. Abhishek Sharma was the only Indian batter who looked comfortable in the middle and slammed 68 runs off 37 balls. Harshit Rana also contributed 35 runs as India scored 125 runs.

Josh Hazlewood was the chief architect behind the destruction as he registered figures of 3/13 in four overs he bowled with the new ball.

Defending the target, Indian bowlers did well and picked up wickets at regular intervals. Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, and Varun Chakravarthy bagged two wickets each, but Australia finished off the run chase with 40 balls remaining.

After Australia won the match in a comfortable manner, India head coach Gautam Gambhir was not a happy man. He was seen having an animated chat with Suryakumar Yadav, with Morne Morkel and Ryan ten Doeschate present by his side.

It seemed like Gambhir was seen expressing his frustration over something, and Suryakumar Yadav was seen providing some explanations to his coach.

The ball feels like it’s coming out nicely at the moment – Josh Hazlewood

Josh Hazlewood, who won the Player of the Match award for his figures of 3/13, said that he has just made minor tweaks to his bowling and the rest is the same. He elaborated:

“The ball feels like it’s coming out nicely at the moment, in whatever format I’m turning up and playing. So, not much needed to change on a wicket like that – there’s enough there for all the quicks. Just about putting the ball in the right areas, don’t try too much, and seeing what happens.

“(anything different you have done this summer?) Not a lot different, really. Minor tweaks here and there, as always, everything’s improving. I think just playing continuous cricket has helped – we’ve been up north playing a few games, then over in New Zealand, now here, West Indies in the winter… I’ve just been going from one series to the next, playing majority of the games, resting when needed. Everything feels in a good place and ready to go.

Josh Hazlewood further said that Australia are building a solid unit of pacers that will serve the team for a long time. He said:

“(strong bowling unit) Absolutely. There’s no better place to learn than out here, in front of 80-odd thousand people, against a high-quality team. I’ve been really happy with what I’ve seen from the other end over the last few games – even in the one-day games, Bartt’s been on fire. Nath does his job every time he turns up, puts in a 100% and bowls some really tough overs. We’re building a nice group of quicks who’ll be fighting for spots in time to come.”
