The Georgia Bulldogs rewarded athletic director Josh Brooks with a massive extension on Monday. The new contract ranges until 2031 (one was left year on his original contract) with a raise of $125,000 per year.
“Since his hiring, Josh Brooks has been an outstanding leader for Georgia athletics and proven to be one of the nation’s most successful and widely respected athletic directors,” UGA president Jere W. Morehead said in a statement released by the school. “I am pleased we have secured his long-term future with the University of Georgia.”

Brooks’ tenure is as successful as any athletic director could be. He took over for the retired Greg McGarity in 2021, and in the five years since, he’s overseen the Bulldogs make the SEC championship all five years, win the SEC three times, make the College Football Playoff four times, and win the 2021 and 2022 national championship.
The Bulldogs have had a top five recruiting class in five of his six recruiting classes. That includes the No. 1 recruiting class from 2020 and 2024. Brooks has been here when Georgia landed the No. 2 recruit (Ellis Robinson IV), No. 4 recruit (Elijah Griffin), and No. 11 recruit (Justin Williams) of all-time in school history.
The men’s basketball team has seen unprecedented success in Brooks’ tenure. Under his watch, Georgia recruited Asa Newell, who was the No. 19 prospect in the nation from his class. As a result, Georgia made the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2015. This year, Georgia basketball is ranked No. 24 on USA Today’s Coaches poll.
