Georgia football updated football support staff sheds light on Will Muschamp role

by

Georgia football updated its football support staffers in its new media guide released ahead of SEC Media Days in Atlanta.

Will Muschamp, the former Florida and South Carolina coach, is no longer listed on there.

That’s not a big surprise considering the former Bulldog safety had a scaled back role last season to spend more time with his family and be with his son during his freshman year as a Vanderbilt quarterback. He was with the Georgia program during a game week during the regular season, but not with the team on game days.

Coach Kirby Smart was asked prior to spring practices, what the former Georgia co-defensive coordinator’s role was.

“We’ll probably decide that at a later time,” he said then.

Muschamp was a defensive analyst during the 2024 season and returned to the sideline in the postseason. Georgia did not list the support staff in its spring media guide.

Muschamp’s son, Whit, will be a redshirt freshman this season at Vanderbilt.

Georgia promoted another analyst, former Georgia Tech defensive coordinator Andrew Thacker, to nickels and stars coach this offseason.

Smart also hired former Georgia tight ends coach John Lilly and Jacksonville Jaguars offensive line coach Phil Rausch as offensive quality control coaches.

Former Clemson offensive coordinator Brandon Streeter’s title is now senior offensive analyst for offense.

Jimmy Brumbaugh, a veteran former SEC defensive line coach, has the title assistant quality control for defense.

Georgia also has a new director football performance nutrition with Cate Herrmans replacing Collier Madaleno.
