Georgia Bulldogs freshman running back Jae Lamar was recently compared to former Alabama Crimson Tide star RB Jase McClellan by 247Sports.

Lamar could quickly emerge with a pivotal role in the Dawgs’ backfield in 2026. The star freshman is an elite running back with excellent speed and athleticism, as Lamar drew interest from a multitude of programs around the SEC prior to committing to Georgia.

At 6-foot, 205-pounds, Lamar was nothing short of elite during his time at Colquitt County High School in Moultrie, Georgia, and the playmaker finds himself as the newest member of the Dawgs’ backfield as a result.

Jae Lamar of Colquitt County finds some open space en route to a 10-yard touchdown run in a win at Richmond Hill on Oct. 31, 2025.

A four-star recruit, Lamar was ranked as the No. 17 running back and the No. 210 overall player from the class of 2026, per the 247Sports Composite rankings. He was ranked as the No. 24 player from Georgia. Lamar’s comparison to McClellan could be an excellent sign of whats to come in the near future, as McClellan played a crucial role on Alabama’s offense during his time with the Tide. Lamar recorded 1,900 yards and 28 total touchdowns throughout three seasons at Colquitt High, as the talented running back will now turn his full attention towards his first season in Athens.

Georgia continues to target various playmakers from the class of 2027 as well, as the Dawgs are reportedly closing in on three-star linebacker Joakim Gouda and five-star offensive lineman Mark Matthews. Georgia already has a 2027 commitment from five-star running back Kemon Spell.
