The Georgia Bulldogs will be returning one of the their top linebackers for next season after Raylen Wilson announced his return to UGA. Wilson, a junior, could have entered the 2026 NFL draft or the transfer portal. Instead, he’ll be back in Athens for another year.
Wilson was Georgia‘s third-leading tackler for the 2025 college football season. He finished the year with 74 total tackles, 2 1/2 sacks and a pass deflection. He immediately projects to be Georgia’s top linebacker next season with All-SEC standout CJ Allen headed to the NFL draft.

Wilson’s return is big for the Georgia inside linebacker core, which should be a great shape for 2026. Wilson brings an excellent combination of speed and experience to UGA next season.

In 2026, linebackers Justin Williams, Chris Cole and Zayden Walker are expected to be the primary contenders for the starting role opposite of Wilson. Georgia has already lost linebacker Kris Jones to the transfer portal, which is a blow to UGA’s depth.
“Still got business to handle here,” Wilson said in announcing his return.
