Ginevra Taddeucci Wins Final Race & Overall Open Water World Cup Title; Logan Fontaine Crowned Men’s Champion

Ginevra Taddeucci and David Betlehem won the final races of the World Aquatics Open Water Swimming World Cup 2025 as the Italian and Logan Fontaine claimed the respective overall crowns.

Betlehem produced a strong finish at Golfo Aranci, Italy, to pull away and claim his first World Cup 10k win a couple of weeks after being out-touched by Bartosz Kapala in the European Aquatics open water finale.

The Olympic bronze medallist touched the panel in 1:53:28.20, 3.4secs ahead of Fontaine who picked his way through the field to take second in 1:53:31.60. It was enough to see Fontaine overhaul fellow Frenchman Marc-Antoine Olivier in the overall rankings with the latter having led going into the fourth and final leg in Italy by 1950pts to 1650. However, Rio 2016 bronze medallist Olivier finished 14th in 1:53:41.90 as Fontaine won the overall title with 2350 to 2120.

The French pair were followed by Italian duo Dario Verani (1:53:32.40) and Andrea Filadelli (1:53:34.80) with Sacha Velly the third Frenchman home in 1:53:35.20.

Taddeucci, silver medallist at the World Championships in Singapore in July, headed the rankings coming into the final event with 1800pts ahead of Angela Martinez Guillen (1750) and world champion Moesha Johnson, who had accrued 1600pts across two races.

The Italian was too strong down the finishing chute and saw off the challenge of Klaudia Tarasiewicz to win in 1:58:56.50 to 1:58:57.20 before bowing to the home crowd.

They were followed by Lea Boy (1:59:00.60), Caroline Jouisse (1:59:02.30) and Martinez Guillen (1:59:03.70) while Johnson slipped from first to 11th to finish in 1:59:07.00.
