Harshit Rana has been one of the mainstays for the Indian team in the white-ball format. The Delhi pacer was also in the 2026 T20 World Cup squad; however, Rana was ruled out due to an injury he sustained during the warm-up game against South Africa. He was seen holding his knee while walking off the pitch.
Harshit Rana has undergone surgery after suffering from joint tenderness during the game against the Proteas. He, while posting on his Instagram, stated, “Surgery done right ✅ , now focused on recovery and getting back to what I love.”

Harshit silenced all criticisms
Harshit Rana has been replaced by Mohammed Siraj in the T20 World Cup squad. Rana might also be missing out on the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) as it will take him some months to recover after the surgery, and he has to go under rehab at the BCCI Centre of Excellence to get the fitness certificate ahead of any further participation.
Harshit Rana has been one of the cricketers who has faced criticism for his inclusion in the side in every format of the game. However, he has silenced the critics with his performances across formats for the Indian team. Last year, He emerged as India’s highest wicket-taker in Men’s ODIs for 2025, finishing the year with 20 wickets in 11 matches.
Rana to miss IPL first half?
Harshit has been a key to Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) success in 2024 year where he bowled brilliantly in the death under the tenure of Gautam Gambhir as the mentor. Thus, after Gambhir became the head coach, he also featured for India in all three formats. There were rumours that Harshit plays due to the favouritism of Gambhir; however, his performances silenced everyone.

Harshit Rana, in the T20I format, found his rhythm, and he has picked nine wickets in nine games for the side with an economy of 10.20. He was a part of the ICC Champions Trophy-winning squad and was the 4th highest wicket-taker in the competition for India, picking four wickets.
KKR to miss Harshit Rana
Harshit in the IPL has been brilliant for KKR as he bagged 15 wickets in the previous edition of the league. He will be a big miss as he is expected to miss at least the first half of the competition.
Harshit, who was replaced by Mohammed Sira,j bowled brilliantly on his comeback to the T20 squad, picking up three wickets in India’s opening game against the USA. India’s bowlers dominated and defended a low total in the first match of their major competition at the Wankhede Stadium.
