We’re used to the usual stats when it comes to drivers: distance, accuracy, consistency, forgiveness. However, one aspect we don’t focus on as much is depreciation. With drivers costing several hundred dollars, it’s an area you might want to pay attention to.
Depreciation, in the simplest of terms, is how much value something loses over time. If you’re purchasing a brand-new driver and investing hundreds, you want it to retain as much of its original value as possible when you eventually sell it or trade it in.
On the flip side, if you’re purchasing a used driver, higher depreciation can mean you save a significant amount purchasing it used versus brand new.
We took a look at how much the price changed in 2025 for new versus used drivers, specifically with the models that made the Best Drivers of 2025 list. After comparing the cost of the used ones found online with 2nd Swing, you may be surprised at what the numbers reveal.
Depreciation rates for the best drivers of 2025
| Model | 2025 brand-new pricing | 2025 used condition pricing* | Depreciation |
| Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond | $649.99 | $461.99 | 29% |
| PING G430 MAX 10K | $599 | $428.99 | 28% |
| PING G440 LST | $599 | $527.99 | 12% |
| Tour Edge Exotics E725 | $399.99 | $287.99 | 28% |

Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond
The overall pick for Best Driver of 2025 was the Callaway Elyte Triple Diamond. The $649 retail price is similar to other top brands, but its 29-percent depreciation over the year was one of the highest changes in value on our list. That means you can score a great deal if you can find a used one in top condition.
PING G430 MAX 10K

The PING G430 MAX 10K offers plenty of features for those who want it all with their driver: distance, forgiveness, feel, good looks. If you’re buying it brand-new, be sure to consider the 28-percent depreciation value when it’s time for a trade-in.
PING G440 LST

The PING G440 was MyGolfSpy’s third overall pick for Best Driver, thanks to its consistent shots and ball speed delta. However, it makes its mark as the lowest depreciation value in 2025 among our list. It proves it holds its value well but you might not be able to find the bargain you were hoping for with a used version.
Tour Edge Exotics E725

The Tour Edge Exotics E725 earned the Best for Distance accolade among the tested drivers in 2025 and it also comes in as the least expensive option. Even though it’s about one-third less expensive brand-new versus the others, it still had one of the higher depreciation rates we found.
Titleist GT2

The Titleist GT2 comes in hot in 2025 as the winner of the Best for Distance, earning the highest marks for both carry and total distance. It’s one of the more expensive options as a brand-new purchase but you may take comfort knowing it has one of the lowest depreciation values.
PXG Black Ops 0311 Tour

With its high scores for forgiveness, including consistent carry distance, the PXG Black Ops 0311 Tour outshines many others tested in 2025. It also earns the distinction of having the highest depreciation value on this list which means a lower trade-in value in the future or a great deal on a used one right now.
