The ICC has rewarded Indian spinner Varun Chakravarthy for his consistent performances and ranked him as the No. 1 T20I bowler.
The bowlers are having a great outing in the ongoing edition of the Asia Cup 2025, as several players from India, Sri Lanka, and other teams make a massive rise in the ICC bowlers’ rankings.
Varun Chakravarthy ranked as the No. 1 T20I bowler by the ICC
Indian bowler Varun Chakravarthy has been crowned as the no. 1-ranked bowler by the ICC, after his repeated dominating performances for India in the last year. He is the third Indian bowler to be the No. 1-ranked ICC in T20Is after Jasprit Bumrah and Ravi Bishnoi.

Bishnoi has not been given a spot in the Indian squad for the Asia Cup; Varun Chakravarthy has, however, been cited as one of the fixed players in the XI. The 34-year-old has been referred to as the finest spinner in the side for the last 12 months.
His strong performances in the recent two games of the Asia Cup 2025 have caused him to overtake New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy in the T20I bowling rankings. Chakravarthy not only picked a 5-for against England but also made a commanding start to the year.

Asia Cup witnesses several bowlers rise in the ICC rankings
Going into the Asia Cup, Varun Chakravarthy picked 1/4 and 1/24 against the UAE and the Pakistan cricket team. This proved enough for him to rise three spots, dropping Duffy, Akeal Hosein, and Adam Zampa behind him.
Other than these four, who are now on the top 4 list in the ICC bowlers’ rankings, especially when the other three are not currently actively involved in a game. Sri Lankan pacer Nuwan Thusara has moved six spots to the sixth position, and the Pakistani duo Sufiyan Muqeem and Abrar Ahmed have also moved up to the 11th and the 16th positions in the list.
Indian spinner Kuldeep Yadav has performed exceptionally well in the Asia Cup, and he has moved 16 whopping rungs to the 23rd spot in the ICC rankings.
Abhishek Sharma sets a new record with career-high ratings
Abhishek Sharma, the No. 1-ranked T20I batter has gained the highest ratings of his career after two dominating performances against the UAE and the Pakistan team. On the other hand, England opener Phil Salt and their former skipper Jos Buttler have also been performing stunningly to retain their spot.
South African batter Dewald Brevis has moved up two places to the 11th position, while Aiden Markram has moved up 10 spots to reach the 30th position in the ICC batting rankings. Shubman Gill has also moved up four spots to the 39th position.
Hardik Pandya continues to dominate as the No. 1-ranked all-rounder in the ICC T20I rankings.
