One of the WNBA‘s biggest stars is reportedly the latest high-profile athlete to fall victim to a home burglary in recent years.
The past couple of seasons have seen players like Joe Burrow, Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce have their house burglarized by criminals. And now the New York Liberty guard is the latest to be broken into and stolen from.

Thankfully neither Ionescu nor her husband were home at the time. But the situation has to be unsettling nonetheless for the four-time WNBA All-Star and 2024 champion.

Burglars ‘ransack’ Sabrina Ionescu’s LA home
According to TMZ Sports, Ionescu’s Los Angeles home was robbed on Monday night while her and her husband were away after two suspects smashed the glass of the backdoor of their property and made their way inside.
Per the LAPD, the suspects “ransacked the location and took the victim’s property,” which reportedly included running off with several handbags valued at more than $60,000.

Not much else is known at this time about what else the suspects might’ve took, but it sounds like they were able to do a decent amount of damage before making their getaway and a family member of Ionescu’s was able to respond to the home.
Sabrina Ionescu 2026 free agency
For the first time in her professional basketball career, Ionescu is an unrestricted free agent. After following up ’24’s Finals run with a first-round exit last season, the Liberty decided to move on from head coach Sandy Brondello in favor of former Golden State Warriors assistant Chris DeMarco.

DeMarco won four titles working under Steve Kerr in The Bay and is hoping to bring similar success to the ladies at the Barclays Center. However, much of that will hinge on whether or not New York is able to keep its All-Star core of Ionescu, Breanna Stewart and Jonquel Jones together.
We’ll see what kind of deal the two sides are able to agree to once the league’s labor negotiations reach their conclusion. But the Liberty won’t be the only franchise vying to land her services.
