The No. 9 Hope College women’s basketball team won both games at the Oglethorpe Tournament in Georgia behind strong defense and timely outside shooting.
The Flying Dutch defeated host Oglethorpe 68-57 on Wednesday, Dec. 17, then topped Pacific (Ore.) 72-52 on Thursday, Dec. 18, improving to 10-1.

Hope buried nine 3-pointers in each game.

Against Oglethorpe, Leah Richards totaled 20 points and 10 rebounds. She and Maddie Petroelje each hit three 3s.
Against Pacific, the Flying Dutch rolled out to a 20-7 lead and didn’t look back.
Hope’s Maddie Petroelje had six 3-pointers at the Oglethorpe Tournament in Georgia on Wednesday and Thursday.
Hope shot 42% from the field and hit nine 3-pointers.
Petroelje had 15 points, including three 3s, while Sydney Vis and Anna Richards each scored 12. Terin Maynard had 10 points and five rebounds from her point guard position.
Hope’s next game is 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, when the Flying Dutch host Calvin in The Rivalry.
