COLUMBIA — South Carolina women’s basketball’s new addition Alicia Tournebize introduced herself to Gamecocks fans by way of a video just a day after she made her first appearance on the bench.
The 6-foot-7 18-year old forward from France who can dunk arrived on Jan. 1, and traveled with the team for the 74-63 road win over Florida on Jan. 4.

On Jan. 5, the program posted a video of Tournebize saying “Hi fams, it’s Alicia, I’m so grateful to be here and can’t wait to start.” She then ended the video saying something in French.
She also reposted photos of her in a uniform holding a basketball, and added an emoji that said “soon” to the post on her Instagram story.
As of Jan. 6 it’s unclear when Tournebize will start playing but could be this week based on the last update from coach Dawn Staley.
When will Alicia Tournebize play for South Carolina?
Staley gave her most recent update on Tournebize on Jan. 2.
During the end of practice, Tournebize was chatting with Staley as the team shot free throws. Staley was asked if Tournebize will start learning plays during this time before she gets to touch the ball.

“Not yet, we’ll do that once she’s able to hit the floor, that’s probably going to be sometime next week I’m imagining,” Staley said.
