Dan Lanning, the Oregon coach, was the low man on Vanderbilt football in the final US LBM Coaches Poll. Lanning ranked the Commodores No. 25 in his poll.
Kentucky coach Mark Stoops, on the other hand, was the highest on Vanderbilt, ranking it at No. 12. The Commodores defeated Kentucky, 45-17, on Nov. 22 as Diego Pavia set the program’s single-game record for passing yards.

Vanderbilt ultimately finished with a No. 15 ranking after a 10-3 season. The Commodores had the best season in program history and won 10 games for the first time, but they lost to the three ranked teams they faced: Alabama, Texas, and Iowa in the ReliaQuest Bowl.
Clark Lea was also a voter in the Coaches Poll and ranked Vanderbilt at No. 14. Notably, Lea ranked the Commodores behind BYU and Utah but ahead of Notre Dame, where he used to be the defensive coordinator.
Lea also did not rank Missouri or Tennessee, two SEC teams Vanderbilt beat that Lea had previously argued only dropped out of the rankings because they lost to the Commodores. Both teams lost their bowl games, however.
