Head coach Kim Mulkey begins her fifth season leading LSU women’s basketball on Tuesday when her team hosts Houston Christian. The Hall of Famer will look to add to her historic coaching career.
Since returning to her home state of Louisiana, Mulkey brought LSU its first national title in program history. Her teams recorded three consecutive 30-win seasons and took three-straight trips to the Elite Eight of the NCAA Tournament.

Another similar season will boost Mulkey’s standing all the NCAA’s all-time wins list for women’s basketball coaches. She currently ranks No. 13 with 754 career wins.
If the Tigers post another 30-win season, Mulkey will climb to at least No. 12 on the list. It won’t be long before she passes Doug Bruno, who ranks 12th with 759 wins. Climbing any higher could be tough. Northwestern head coach Joe McKeown is No. 11 with 777 wins, but he’ll add a few more to his name this year, too.
