South Carolina women’s basketball lost for the first time in the 2025-26 season and dropped one spot in the AP Top 25 as a result on Dec. 1.
The Gamecocks (7-1) went from No. 2 to No. 3 after losing 66-64 to Texas on Nov. 27 in the Players Era championship game in Las Vegas. It was the first loss since the national championship in April.

Coach Dawn Staley’s squad had been receiving first-place votes since the preseason poll but after the loss, didn’t receive any this week.
The Longhorns (8-0) jumped from No. 4 to No. 2 after beating both UCLA and South Carolina in Las Vegas. UConn remained No. 1.
