The Michigan State women’s basketball team will try for its third consecutive Big Ten victory when it hosts Illinois on Sunday, Jan. 4 at Breslin Center.
The No. 19-ranked Spartans head into the matchup on a five-game winning streak, which included an 80-60 road victory over Indiana on New Year’s Day. MSU is 13-1 overall and 2-1 in the Big Ten, with the lone loss coming on the road at Wisconsin in December,

Illinois has won a program-record 11 straight games, which included a 73-70 upset victory over No. 6-ranked Maryland at home on New Year’s Day. The win was the first for Illinois over a top-10 ranked opponent since November 2014. Maryland was the last remaining unbeaten team in the Big Ten. The Illini (13-1, 3-0) are tied atop the Big Ten standings and suffered their lone loss to Oregon State in November.
