Facing the Hawkeyes (17-2) on their home court, Ohio State coach Kevin McGuff acknowledges the Buckeyes need to improve their first-half performance. Iowa has picked up three wins over top-15 teams this season.
“The second half [against Indiana], we played really hard in the press, our half-court defense was significantly better, our pace and execution on offense was way better, and we made winning plays,” McGuff said. “You’re not going to beat Iowa in Iowa City playing 20 minutes.”
If Ohio State defeats Iowa, it will be the team’s third win of the season against a top-10 opponent. On Jan. 11, the Buckeyes beat No. 8 Maryland 89-76. On Jan. 19, they beat TCU 71-69.
