How to watch UVA basketballโ€™s scrimmage vs. Villanova

by

The time has come! We get our first televised (sort of) look at Virginia basketball playing a basketball game (of sorts) under Ryan Odom on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. ET. The โ€˜Hoos will scrimmage the Villanova Wildcats at John Paul Jones Arena with the game being streamed on ACC Network Extra.

To watch, sign into espn.com/watch/ or the ESPN App with your cable or streaming television provider and navigate to the game on the ESPN platform from there. Crucially, your provider must include access to ACC Network for you to be able to watch ACC Network Extra through ESPN.

With the NCAA allowing teams two exhibition games which can be open to the public, the Cavaliers are taking advantage. They took on Vanderbilt last week in a game that was not streamed. The โ€˜Hoos fell 95-87 in a 48-minute affair.

On Friday night, two basketball programs which have represented the shift in college sports and college basketball over the last decade tip off. Villanova and Virginia โ€“ under Jay Wright and Tony Bennett โ€“ were powerhouses in the 2010s before the chaos surrounding college sports in the 2020s drove those two legendary coaches out of the business.

Now, under new leadership, the Wildcats and Cavaliers will play in Charlottesville for the first time in nearly 10 years since the โ€˜Hoos were one of five blemishes on the eventual national championsโ€™ schedule during the 2015-16 season.

Stay tuned to Streaking the Lawn after the game for extensive coverage of our first look at Odomโ€™s โ€˜Hoos!
