Hulk Hogan Funeral News – Triple H’s Joke, Vince McMahon’s Arrival, Heavy Security, Who Was There, & More

by

On the latest edition of the “Grilling JR” podcast, co-host Conrad Thompson delivered an emotional, first-hand account of attending the private funeral of WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan, calling it a “surreal, weird experience” surrounded by wrestling legends, celebrities, and tributes.

While Thompson shared details from inside the service, fellow co-host Jim Ross reflected on Hogan’s passing and its cause.

Thompson described the heavy security at Indian Rocks Baptist Church in Florida, with dozens of police officers and multiple checkpoints before guests could even enter the parking lot. Inside, he found himself seated among some of the biggest names in wrestling. He said,

“I’m next to Jeff and Karen Jarrett. In front of me are Matt Riddle and his wife. Behind me, Dory and Marty Funk. Just past Jeff is Kevin Nash with Sean Waltman, behind them is Kevin Owens. Next to him, Bill Alfonso. Dennis Rodman is up front, wailing by the casket, while Brian Nobbs is in the back, crying.”

One of the most striking moments came when Vince McMahon arrived. Conrad said, “Vince came in from stage left — it was like a performance.” Paul “Triple H” Levesque followed Vince’s speech, breaking the tension with a lighthearted quip – “You think by now, I would have learned not to follow Vince McMahon,” before delivering his own tribute.

Ross, who did not attend the service, discussed the official cause of death — a heart attack at age 71 — and speculated that undiagnosed sleep apnea may have been a contributing factor, drawing comparisons to the passing of NFL great Reggie White. He said, “Big guys like that are at risk… if you have symptoms, get checked.”

Thompson closed by saying, “Even a star the magnitude of Hulk Hogan — probably one of the top 10 most famous people of our lifetime — and two hours later, it’s like, ‘Where are we going for dinner?’ It’s weird.”
