Here's what happened in Mets Land on Tuesday, in case you missed it…
- The Mets exploded for five runs in the first inning and got strong outings from Clay Holmes and Sean Manaea in an 8-3 win over the Padres
- Holmes (who started) and Manaea (who relieved) are willing to do "whatever it takes to win"
- Francisco Alvarezexited the game late after being hit by a pitch in the left arm, but is expected to be fine
- David Stearnsgave Carlos Mendoza a vote of confidence
- Stearns weighed in on the trade deadline moves and said there's "no question" he would've done things differently given the benefit of hindsight
- Stearns noted that all options are on the table down the stretch, including the possibility of using Kodai Senga and/or Holmes in the bullpen
- Senga will make one more start for Triple-A Syracuse before possibly being called back up
- Luis Torrens and Tyrone Taylor are getting closer to returning
