Iga Swiatek booked an Australian Open quarterfinal spot and also pulled off a Serena Williams feat in the process.

On Monday, the No. 2 seed handled the business as well possible, routing qualifier world No. 168 Maddison Inglis 6-0 6-3 in the round-of-16 stage at Melbourne Park.

By beating Inglis, Swiatek reached her sixth consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinal. In the summer of 2024, the former world No. 1 picked up a shock Wimbledon third-round defeat after falling short to Yulia Putintseva. Since then, the 24-year-old hasn't exited a Major tournament earlier than the quarterfinal stage.

Now, Swiatek is the youngest player since Williams to make the last-eight stage in six consecutive Slams. Williams, a former 23-time Major champion, achieved the feat between the 2002 French Open and 2023 Wimbledon.

Swiatek's results in her last six Grand Slams

After picking a very early Wimbledon exit in 2024, the Pole concluded her Slam year by losing to Jessica Pegula in the US Open quarterfinal. Last year, the current world No. 2 reached back-to-back Major semifinals at the Australian Open and the French Open, lifted her maiden Wimbledon title, and exited the US Open in the quarterfinal stage for the second year in a row.

Now, Swiatek is through to the quarterfinal stage at Melbourne Park. And for a place in the semifinal, the No. 2 seed will battle against Elena Rybakina.

In the past, the Polish tennis star twice reached the Happy Slam semifinal – she was beaten by Danielle Collins in 2022 and Madison Keys in 2025, respectively. This year, the 24-year-old will hope to make it a step further and make her maiden final in Melbourne.

If Swiatek goes on to win the Australian Open, she will become a champion in all four Majors and achieve a Career Grand Slam.
