India will take on Australia in the second of the five-match T20I series. This article provides details about India’s Playing 11 vs Australia for the second match of the series.

India Playing XI vs Australia- 2nd T20I, India Tour of Australia 2025:

Openers: Abhishek Sharma, Shubman Gill

India would aim to win the second game of the five-match T20I series against Australia and take a 1-0 lead in the series after the first fixture between the two teams was called off due to rain in Canberra.

The Suryakumar Yadav-led side would want to replicate the batting performance they delivered in whatever little play that was possible before rain had the final say.

The onus will be on the opening pair of Abhishrk Sharma and vice captain Shubman Gill to get the team off to a good start while playing in their natural aggressive style in the first six overs.

The duo was able to lay a decent platform in the previous game before Abhishek was dismissed in an attempt to attack Nathan Ellis, whereas his opening partner, Shubman, looked in good touch and would wish for a similar performance.

In addition to laying a platform for the team, both Abhishek and Shubman would hope for the incoming batters to capitalize on it and help the team post an above-par total against a strong Australian batting lineup.

Middle-order batsmen and all-rounders: Suryakumar Yadav (c), Tilak Varma, Sanju Samson (wk), Shivam Dube, Axar Patel

The openers will be followed by a middle order that would be itching to have a hit in the middle, and for that to happen, would wish to get a full game in the second T20I.

Other than captain Suryakumar Yadav, no other batter got the chance to bat in the series opener and would want to make up for it in the next game.

The batters would like to make the most of the opportunity and put on a big total to challenge a powerful Australian batting order and put them under pressure, which will increase the chances of the visitors winning the game.

Although India is expected to go with an unchanged playing XI in the second fixture to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, it would be interesting to see if the team management decides to bring in a bowler, keeping in mind the conditions.

Irrespective of the batting combination, the responsibility will be on the top five batters to score the bulk of the runs for India and for Suryakumar Yadav to lead from the front.

Bowlers: Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah

When it comes to the bowling arsenal, it remained untested in the first T20I, and it would want to put on a spirited performance in the upcoming contest.

As has been the case in the last few years, Jasprit Bumrah will be entrusted to pick wickets in the first six overs.

Other than Bumrah, the captain will have to decide who bowls from the other end, as there are a few options that Suryakumar Yadav can rely upon between Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy, and Axar Patel.

As far as the second spin bowling option is concerned, the team will stick with Kuldeep Yadav, with Shivam Dube fulfilling the role of the sixth bowler to complete India’s bowling attack.
