Indiana Fever Share Update on Stephanie White Amid WNBA Offseason

by

  • Stephanie White led the Indiana Fever to a 24-20 record and the WNBA semifinals in 2025.

  • She also coached the Fever to their first-ever WNBA Commissioner’s Cup championship.

  • White attended an Indiana Pacers game; expectations are high for her second Fever season.

Stephanie White had a memorable first season with the Indiana Fever in 2025. Despite the myriad of injuries she had to deal with on her roster — including one to cornerstone superstar Cailtin Clark — White was still able to lead her team to a 24-20 record in the regular season for the No. 6 seed in the WNBA.

The Fever made it all the way to the semifinals, where they were eliminated by the eventual champions, the Las Vegas Aces, after a hard-fought five-game series. Earlier in the season, White also coached Indiana to its first WNBA Commissioner’s Cup championship in franchise history.

The Fever brought White in during the previous offseason after deciding to part ways with Christie Sides. White spent the last two years with the Connecticut Sun, where she won the Coach of the Year award in 2023.

This is currently White’s second stint with the Fever. She served as an assistant coach for the team from 2011 to 2013, before being promoted to associate head coach in 2014. She assumed the head coach role in 2015 and led Indiana to the Eastern Conference title in her inaugural year. The former Purdue Boilermakers player left the team the following season, opting to take on a head coaching job at Vanderbilt.

Despite her stature as one of the top coaches in the league, White does not make regular public appearances outside the WNBA, especially during the offseason. It was a change of pace for the 48-year-old on Saturday, though, with Coach White deciding to catch an NBA game at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.

The Fever took to social media to share White’s presence at the Indiana Pacers-Golden State Warriors game on Saturday night.

“head coach Stephanie White is courtside for tonight’s @pacers game against the Warriors 🔥,” the Fever posted on Instagram, sharing a clip of White waving to the crowd as the Pacers acknowledged her during the contest.
