Indiana Fever Star Lexie Hull Gets Nasty Black Eye After Brutal Collision

by

The Indiana Fever earned a hard-fought win over the Seattle Storm on Tuesday that gave their playoff push a major boost with just six games left to play. But Fever star Lexie Hull paid for her efforts in the 95-75 victory with a couple of nasty shiners.

In the first quarter of the game, Indiana led Seattle 10-5 when a loose ball prompted Hull to turn towards the ground. Unfortunately, she didn’t notice Storm forward Gabby Williams making the same move and the two butted heads, sending them reeling to the ground.

Thankfully neither one appears to have suffered a concussion, but the bruises were still pretty visible well after the game.

In a video she shared on Instagram this week, Hull revealed that the collision left her with not one, but two black eyes. She said that even with a filter on it looked pretty nasty.

“It’s not doing great,” Hull said. “I wish this was a filter, but this is insane.”

“The knot is gone. Instead, I just have two black eyes. So, yeah, this is me!” she added.

No time for injuries

Unfortunately for Hull, the team can’t really afford to sit her for their crucial game against the Los Angeles Sparks tonight. Caitlin Clark is still out with her various injuries and the team recently had to place Sophie Cunningham on season-ending injured reserve.

While Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell are reliably putting up 20-plus points per game, only one of their final games will come against a team not currently in playoff contention – or a title favorite.

Indiana will play their next three games on the road: at Los Angeles, at Golden State and at Phoenix before a home game against the Chicago Sky. Their final road game will be against the Washington Mystics on September 7 and their regular season finale will be at home against the top-seeded Minnesota Lynx.

For the sake of their playoff hopes, they could really use a healthy Lexie Hull and maybe a fit Caitlin Clark sooner rather than later.
