Iowa basketball hosting four-star, Wisconsin PF on unofficial visit

As Iowa basketball’s first season under head coach Ben McCollum approaches, the Hawkeyes are staying busy on the recruiting trail.

Per HawkeyeInsider’s Sean Bock, Iowa will be hosting 2027 four-star power forward Donovan Davis on an unofficial visit to Iowa City on Thursday. The Hawkeyes offered Davis on June 22.

A product of Freedom High School in Wisconsin, the 6-foot-7, 200-pound rising junior is ranked No. 43 nationally in the 2027 class, as the No. 8 power forward, and as the No. 1 recruit in Wisconsin, according to 247Sports.

In addition to Iowa, Davis has received five other offers from prominent college basketball programs, including Iowa State, Marquette, Wisconsin, California, and Syracuse, per 247Sports.

After his trip to Iowa City on Thursday, Davis is also slated to take unofficial visits to Nebraska on Sept. 5, Iowa State on Sept. 6, and Wisconsin on Sept. 20.

Per On3’s visit log, Davis has previously taken three unofficial visits to Iowa State and two trips to Marquette, but has not yet traveled to see the Hawkeyes, Cornhuskers, or Badgers.

Outside of Freedom High School, Davis played for the 16U Team Herro team this spring and summer on the Nike EBYL circuit. The Iowa staff were consistent viewers of Davis’ games throughout his offseason play with Team Herro.

According to Nike EBYL’s stats, Davis finished with an average of 13.4 points, 7.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game on 69.1% shooting from the field, 37.5% from 3-point territory and 77.8% from the free-throw line.
