Iowa football offers talented 2027 defensive lineman prospect

by

Before Iowa football’s (5-2, 3-1 Big Ten) epic 25-24 victory over Penn State (3-4, 0-4 Big Ten), the Hawkeyes extended a scholarship offer to three-star 2027 defensive lineman prospect Nehemiah Ombati.

The 6-foot-4, 275-pound defensive lineman hails from Shakopee, Minn., where he stars for Waconia High School and ranks as the No. 61 defensive lineman in the 2027 class and as the No. 3 recruit in the state of Minnesota, according to 247Sports.

In addition to Iowa, Ombati has also received offers from Iowa State, North Dakota, North Dakota State, South Dakota State and Big Ten foe Wisconsin.

While it is still early in his recruitment process, the Hawkeyes could certainly use the size and tenacity of Ombati on the defensive front for Phil Parker’s unit as Iowa looks towards the future.

Iowa is currently without a commit in the 2027 class, though the Hawkeyes are sure to start heating up in the cycle as the fall continues and when the spring arrives. In its 2026 class, Iowa has one commitment from a defensive lineman in Sawyer Jezierski out of Edina High School in Minneapolis.

Jezierski is a three-star commit and is ranked as the nation’s No. 50 defensive lineman per Rivals.
