Bessinger is from Kaysville, Utah, and was previously committed to the Boise State Broncos, but reopened his recruitment in October, shortly after taking his official visit to Iowa. His recruitment took off during his senior year, with multiple Power Five programs extending his offers.
He has had an excellent senior season at Davis High School, who he has led to a 10-2 record. He has completed 75.0% (333-438) passes for 4,313 yards, 53 touchdowns, and four interceptions. He has completed 69.7% of his passes for 10,908 yards, 127 touchdowns, and 21 interceptions during his career.
Bessinger is ranked as the No. 205 overall player and No. 14 quarterback in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 4 player from Utah.
He is the highest-ranked recruit in Iowa’s 2026 recruiting class, which now has 15 commitments. The group is ranked as the 49th best in the country and 12th in the Big Ten by 247Sports.
