On the heels of a strong win on New Yearβs Day against Nebraska, the Iowa Womenβs Basketball team have taken the road to Evanston, IL for a rare Monday night matchup against the Northwestern Wildcats. The Hawkeyes come into the contest with a 12-2 (3-0 B1G, tied for first in the conference) record, while the Wildcats enter with a 6-8 (0-3 B1G) tally. The Wildcats are sitting dang close to the bottom of the conference and enter the game on an eight game losing streak. Yikes.

This has the makings of what should be an easy conference win for the team, but no win ever comes easy. To continue cementing themselves as a top 10-worthy team, the Hawkeyes are looking for complete domination on both ends of the court tonight, and prior games against similar opponents have shown the Hawkeyes are capable of that.
Ideally, weβll see another huge game from what could be Iowaβs Big 3 of Ava Heiden, Hannah Stuelke, and Chit-Chat Wright, all of whom scored in double figures against the Cornhuskers. Wright in particular has been incredible in her short time in an Iowa uniform, including her career high 24 points last Thursday. She is becoming the leader that this program expects out of its point guard right before our eyes, and it has truly been a joy to watch β and itβs just getting started.
The Hawkeyes will once again be without 6th year senior Kylie Feuerbach, which means weβll likely see another start from sophomore guard Taylor Stremlow (which is fine with me!). Emely Rodriguez also remains out, with back issues. Otherwise, Iowa will have all of its main contributors for the game.
Iβll be around in the comments again tonight and will most likely have a recap post up as well. Should be a fun game, and ideally weβll know the outcome well before the final buzzer rings. Be nice to each other in the comments, donβt swear unless youβre swearing at the refs, and letβs have some fun.
