While listed as an exhibition, one of Iowa women’s basketball’s key transfer additions, Emely Rodriguez, reacted to her first game experience at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
The sophomore addition from UCF was one of the most noticeable Hawkeyes in their 104-63 win over Ashland on Thursday night, where she recorded 17 points on 7-of-10 from the floor and 3-of-3 from 3-point territory, to go along with 4 assists in 13:36 of action.

After the game, Rodriguez said that she was excited and a bit nervous at first, but eventually calmed down as the game went on.
“Yeah, I mean, you kind of look at it (the numerous banners in the rafters), and for me, that makes me want to play and do my best in front of so many people,” Rodriguez said. “So I was excited. Maybe a little nervous at first, but then I got going, and it was a really good game for us.”
Iowa will now get set for its regular-season opener on Nov. 3 against Southern, which will begin at 6:30 p.m. CT from Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The broadcast of that game will stream on Big Ten Plus (subscription required).
