by

After missing Iowa women’s basketball’s (1-0) season opener against Southern on Nov. 3 due to injury, the Hawkeyes have provided an update on sophomore guard Teagan Mallegni.

Mallegni, who suffered an ankle injury in the Hawkeyes’ 104-63 exhibition win over Ashland last week, was listed as “questionable” in Iowa’s initial availability report of the 2025-26 campaign, but was downgraded to “out” just before tip-off on Monday.

According to Iowa head coach Jan Jensen, the 6-foot-1 guard is expected to be available for the Hawkeyes’ upcoming matchup against Evansville on Sunday.

The McFarland, Wis., native played in 30 games during her freshman season, averaging 3.2 points and 2.1 rebounds per game while shooting 34.4% from the field, 22.8% from 3-point range, and 78.3% from the free-throw line.

Iowa’s matchup against Evansville will be on Nov. 9 at 2 p.m. CT from Carver-Hawkeye Arena. The game will be streamed exclusively on B1G+ (subscription required).
