With Notre Dame’s football season over following the college football playoff snub and the decision to play in any bowl games, the focus has turned towards roster management and staff retention. The former is something that still needs time and other developments, but the latter is definitely underway.
Notre Dame just lost linebackers coach, Max Bullough, and assistant Tre Reader to the Michigan State Spartans — and now another Irish defensive coach is being mentioned for a new job elsewhere. Irish defensive line coach, Al Washington, is a name that is being mentioned as a possible hire for the Boston College Eagles as its next defensive coordinator.
This isn’t the first time Washington has been connected to a job opening with the Boston College Eagles. Washington is a former player for Boston College, and as they continually struggle to get back to being a strong football program, a successful alum that has proven himself as a recruiter and coach is a very enticing option.

It’s hard to say how this will all go down (if at all) but this is how major college football operates, and Marcus Freeman likely has a plan in place to replace staffers as needed.
