Israel Adesanya’s ‘Battle Giraffe’ wrecks UFC debut opponent

by

Cam Rowston entered the UFC middleweight division in style Saturday in Perth.

On the UFC Fight Night 260 undercard, Rowston (13-3 MMA, 1-0 UFC) made quick work of seasoned veteran Andre Petroski (13-5 MMA, 8-5 UFC) with a TKO stoppage at the 2:41 mark of Round 1 at RAC Arena in Perth, Western Australia.

The lengthy Rowston dropped Petroski with a short left hand. Petroski briefly threatened an armbar but was met with more ground-and-pound punches that eventually were enough for referee Steve Perceval to stop the fight.

Rowston then hit a John Cena-esque celebration and pulled off a hyped UFC promo on the microphone, much to the delight of one of his training partner Israel Adesanya who was cageside.

Rowston has 12 finishes in 13 wins and extended his winning streak to five with Saturday’s victory. Petroski has now lost back-to-back fights. Three of his four UFC losses have come by knockout or TKO.
