IYO SKY Breaks Silence After Losing WWE Women’s World Title Match To Stephanie Vaquer At WrestlePalooza

by

IYO SKY came up short at WrestlePalooza 2025, where she faced Stephanie Vaquer for the vacant WWE Women’s World Title. The two clashed in Indianapolis after Naomi vacated the championship due to her pregnancy, leaving the belt up for grabs on WWE’s first premium live event under the ESPN era.

The match itself was all about respect. SKY and Vaquer shook hands before the bell and pushed each other to the limit in a back-and-forth battle. In the end, Vaquer pulled out a surprise Spiral Tap to secure the victory and become the new champion. Afterward, the two embraced in the ring, a sign of mutual admiration.

Speaking to WWE cameras after the loss, SKY opened up about her disappointment but made it clear she isn’t finished chasing the title.

“I gave it my all, I did my best, but I just couldn’t quite reach the Women’s World Title. Disappointing. But from the bottom of my heart I want to congratulate Stephanie Vaquer. She was strong. La Primera, a champion worthy of the name. I’ll keep working hard until I rise back up as champion again. Thank you.”

The fallout didn’t stop there. Asuka, SKY’s former Damage CTRL teammate, reacted on Twitter in her own way, showing clear frustration with the outcome and once again calling on her longtime ally. “Kairiiiiiii”

With SKY vowing to climb her way back into championship contention and Asuka hinting at another storyline shift, the WWE women’s division looks set for some major drama in the weeks ahead.
