Head coach Mark Jones stated Morgan was an “honest lad” who loved the Ospreys.

“Jac has got a hell of a lot of integrity,” said Jones.

“He hasn’t said that to me officially [about the Ospreys], but if he has, that shows just how much he loves the Ospreys and his team-mates. He’s got to be commended for that if he’s said it.

“Welsh rugby and the Ospreys would love to have Jac in this team for many years, the team would be better for it.”

Jones also confirmed Morgan will captain the side again this season with Lake acting as his Ospreys vice-captain.

“Those two have done it before,” said Jones.

“They’re a great compliment for each other.

“We’ve got a great experienced leadership group as well. We’re very fortunate to have two guys like that with the support behind them.”

Morgan will miss the opening match of the season against Bulls in Pretoria on Saturday as he continues his pre-season preparations following his exploits with the Lions in Australia.

Lake will captain the side in his absence in South Africa with Morgan arriving in the country before the second game against Stormers in Cape Town on Friday, 3 October.
