Jackson’s 6 triples power Cyclone offense over UCF

Three Cyclones reached double figures as Iowa State women’s basketball team defeated the UCF, 65-52, in Saturday afternoon’s Big 12 matchup at Hilton Coliseum. Iowa State (18-5, 6-5 Big 12) led for 35 minutes and 25 seconds in the contest.

UCF (10-11, 2-8 Big 12) trimmed the Cyclone lead to eight with two minutes to go in the third quarter but Arianna Jackson’s sixth, and final, 3-point basket made it an 11-point lead for the Cyclones and the Knights were unable to close the gap.

Iowa State shot 39.1% from the field, making 9-of-36 from beyond the arc. On the defensive side, the Cyclones finished with a 45-34 advantage in rebounding and recorded 14 assists on 25 made field goals.

With 10 points Saturday, Audi Crooks extended her double-figure scoring streak to 89 games. Jackson recorded a career high 18 points, with all points coming from beyond the arc. Jada Williams had a game high 23 points.

UCF was without Leah Harmon, on the season, Harmon averages 15.7 points per game.

The Knights were led by Jacorriah Bracey, who scored 16 points. Mahogany Chandler-Roberts added 10 points.

Samari Bankhead, daughter of former Cyclone Shawn (1995-1997) scored two points and pulled down three rebounds. As a team, UCF shot 36.2% from the floor, making 1-of-9 from three.

Up next, Iowa State travels to Utah on Saturday, Feb. 7. Tip is scheduled for 6 p.m.
