Jacy Jayne Uses Numbers Game To Retain NXT Women’s Title During New Year’s Evil

by

The January 6 episode of NXT brought New Year’s Evil. This yearly event is usually a fun show, and the night was full of important matches. The NXT Women’s Title match did not disappoint.

Jacy Jayne defended the NXT Women’s Championship against Kendal Grey in a singles match. Jayne wasn’t alone, with Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid in her corner, while Grey had Wren Sinclair backing her up.

This match went down during the show’s first hour. Kendal Grey was all over Jacy Jayne from the opening bell, but the Fatal Influence leader was able to take control eventually. Then Grey was able to table out the entire heel stable with a top rope dive to the outside.

Eventually, Jacy Jayne nailed a cannonball on Kendal Grey on the outside, bashing her against the barricade. Then the show went to commercial break.

The match continued, and there were a few near falls. One of the closest close calls saw Kendal Grey kick out after taking a stiff knee from Jacy Jayne. After some back-and-forth, Grey got Jayne in a submission hold, but then Fallon Henley pulled her off. After a bit of chaos, Kendal Grey got her submission on again. Then Henley was able to assist Jacy before she nailed a Rolling Encore to retain her title.
