Paul originally was slated to meet another decorated, albeit much smaller, boxing champ in Gervonta Davis – that is, until the scheduled Nov. 14 fight was canceled in the wake of Davis facing allegations of assaulting his ex-girlfriend at a strip club. Shortly after, Joshua surprisingly accepted a lucrative offer to replace Davis and fight Paul, flipping the script entirely when it comes to the size discrepancy.
