Jamal Hill Launches Fundraising Campaign for 2028 Bid, Philanthropy Efforts
Paralympic medalist and advocate Jamal Hill this week has launched his Road to LA28 Olympic and Paralympic campaign with a $3 million goal to support programs aimed at youth swim access and disability inclusion.
Hill, 30, is a two-time Paralympian, winning bronze in the S9 men’s 50 freestyle at the Tokyo Paralympics in 2021. He’s the only African American swimmer to medal at the Paralympics. He also qualified for the team at the Paris Paralympics in 2024.
The Los Angeles native is making a bid for his third games, this one in his hometown in three years, where he trains at Los Angeles Athletic Club. The fundraising is designed both to support his training journey and to expand his public impact work through his Swim Up Hill Foundation.
Hill is hosting a cocktail reception this month at Yamashiro Hollywood, with support from ABG Group and his foundation board. He’s inviting “corporate sponsors and ESG-aligned investors” to join his quest.
“I’m not just swimming for gold—I’m swimming for every kid who needs to believe in their power,” Hill said in a press release. “LA28 is home turf. Let’s show the world what homegrown greatness looks like.”
Swim Up Hill has hosted events in the past, with a goal to team 1 million kids to swim annually by 2028. The foundation has built platforms for “swim education, AI safety tools, youth gaming, and animation.”
