Luke Donald, captain of the European Ryder Cup team, delights both fans and experts, as well as former players.

The European team managed to win on American soil after a long series of years and thus make a great feat that will certainly be talked about in the years to come.

Former European Ryder Cup hero, Jamie Donaldson, commented on Luke Donald's work, believing that the English golfer has taken an important step and achieved a great thing for the team. In an interview with SportsBoom, Donaldson pointed out that he was surprised at how calm Luke Donald remained, and it seems that calmness is one of the main components that makes the coach and the team so successful.

"It's maybe surprised me a little bit how well he has done, but the fella is just so calm," Donaldson told SportsBoom.com.

"And people that have that calmness about them tend to make good captains.

I remember watching him in that first one in Rome and being very impressed.

I saw him and I saw Zach Johnson, and I just thought, we're one-up here.

Luke's interviews were just so calm and collected, like he knew exactly what he was doing.

He's a major winner, he's a great player," added Donaldson.

Watching the European team in Rome, he was equally impressed by the team's focus, but also by the work of everyone within the team. During the interview, Luke Donald shows calmness, stability and control over all aspects of the game.

Golf fans remember Donaldson's performances with nostalgia, especially in 2014 when he brought victory to the European team.

Donaldson also recalled the advice of Paul McGinley, who prepared him for this kind of tournament in the right way.

Donaldson believes that the captain must make the team happy, create a certain chemistry within the team, because this can guarantee success in this kind of tournament.
