Jannik Sinner was a happy camper following his first-round match at the ATP 500 event in Vienna. The 2023 champion defeated Daniel Altmaier 6-0, 6-2 in 58 minutes for one of his most dominant ATP triumphs.
The favorite had the upper hand on serve and return, dropping 22 points in 14 games and moving over the top in style. Jannik was thrilled about his performance in his 17th straight indoor victory.
World no. 2 reduced the number of errors and imposed his strokes in the shortest exchanges and from the baseline. The Italian even had a chance to try new things after forging a double break in the opener.

Overall, Sinner enjoyed the start of his campaign, hoping to maintain that pace in the upcoming matches and chase the fourth ATP title of the season. Altmaier took only four return points and got broken five times from six chances presented to his rival.
Jannik imposed his strokes superbly and created a 31-7 lead from the baseline. World no. 2 earned a break in the first game of the match and confirmed it with a forehand winner in the next one for 2-0.
The Italian moved 3-0 up with a break at love and forged a 4-0 advantage after 14 minutes with a service winner. Sinner secured another break with a backhand winner in the fifth game and held at love at 5-0 for a bagel in 22 minutes.
The German wasted a game point at 1-1 in the second set and sprayed a backhand error to drop serve and fall 2-1 behind. Jannik confirmed the lead with a drop shot winner in game four.

Daniel missed a game point in the fifth game and fell 4-1 behind. Sinner held for 5-1 and served for the win in game eight. He landed a forehand winner on a match point to seal the deal and sail into the last 16.
"Everything worked well for me in the first set. I stayed away from errors, and everything fell into place. I have always felt comfortable during the indoor season, but you have to be very alert when facing the rivals who serve and return well.
I managed to create a double break gap today and started experimenting with new things in my game. I'm extremely happy with my performance tonight. It's a very positive start to my campaign in terms of my game and emotionally," Jannik Sinner said.
