Jannik Sinner drops ultimate praise on Novak Djokovic: 'We are lucky to have him'

For the third time at previous four Majors, Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic will fight in the semi-final.

The two great rivals scored victories in the Australian Open quarter-final, in different fashion, though, to arrange Friday's clash.

Speaking about the legend, Jannik praised Novak and his level at 38. He feels ready for another duel against the most accomplished player of all time, explaining that's why they all train and compete.

The Italian hopes for another entertaining battle against the Serb, whom he defeated in their previous five duels since the end of 2023. Jannik should be the favorite to reach his third straight Australian Open final.

The Italian recovered after that challenging day at the office against Eliot Spizzirri. He defeated Luciano Darderi and toppled Ben Shelton in the quarter-final for his 19th straight victory in Melbourne.

On the other hand, Novak could have easily been on a plane for Europe. He lost the opening two sets against Lorenzo Musetti earlier on Wednesday and struggled to perform at his best.

However, the Italian experienced a groin injury and retired while trailing 3-1 in the third set. Thus, the Serb reached another Major semi-final at 38 despite not winning a set since the third round!

Novak will try to recover his game and challenge Jannik on Friday, hoping to avoid another loss to the four-time Major winner.

"These are moments why you practice for. You wake up in the morning and hope to play a good match. If you want to win, you have to play at your best. Every match against such a strong player improves you, regardless of the scoreboard.

We are lucky to still have Novak here, playing incredible tennis at his age. Hopefully, it will be a great battle, and we will see what happens. It will be very difficult," Jannik Sinner said.
