Jack Jenkins vs. Ramon Taveras UFC Perth preview

Jenkins (13-4 MMA, 3-2 UFC) will look to bounce back into the win column on home soil. In his first outing of 2025, Jenkins was submitted in the third round by Gabriel Santos at UFC 312. Prior to that setback, he finished Herbert Burns with strikes in the final round of their bout at UFC 305 last August. Jenkins has not lost back-to-back fights since his fourth and fifth professional bouts in 2017-18. … Taveras (10-3 MMA, 1-1 UFC) will also look to rebound from a loss in his last outing, his first UFC setback. Last December, Taveras lost a unanimous decision against Davey Grant. The fight prior was his UFC debut against Serhiy Sidey, which he won by split decision.

Jack Jenkins vs. Ramon Taveras UFC Perth expert pick, prediction

Serving as a solid offering at featherweight is a booking between Jack Jenkins and Ramon Taveras.

Considering that this is one of the best fights on the card, I’m shocked it didn’t retain its spot as the co-headliner.

Jenkins has been fun in victory or defeat, displaying some really sharp skills along the way. Crushing leg kicks are Jenkins’ hallmark on the feet, so I’ll be curious to see how the Aussie stacks up against a southpaw like Taveras.

Although Taveras’ boxing-centric stance invites leg kicks, Jenkins appears to prefer the outside low kicks that present themselves in orthodox-on-orthodox affairs.

Add in the fact that said offense tends to flow off of Jenkins’ lead hand, and “Phar” could find himself ill-prepared for the classic open-stance conundrum (I did not like what I saw in his last outing opposite a primary southpaw stance-switcher in Gabriel Santos).

Unless Jenkins can enforce a grappling game with regularity, I suspect that this fight will play out much closer than the betting lines indicate. For that reason, I’ll take a flier on the underdog Taveras to shock the masses in what could be a style matchup that quietly favors him at the end of the day.

The pick is Taveras to edge out a tight decision on the scorecards by landing the bigger moments on the feet.
