Jim Ross Thinks Chris Jericho Will End His Career in WWE

by

Jim Ross might’ve guessed wrong about Chris Jericho’s surprise return at the Royal Rumble—but that hasn’t changed his gut feeling about where Jericho’s story ultimately ends. According to JR, the AEW veteran isn’t chasing a big payday—he’s chasing closure. And in JR’s eyes, that means WWE.

Speaking on Grilling JR, Ross shared that while he doesn’t have inside information, his instincts tell him Jericho’s final match will happen back where he became a household name.

“He will be there—I’m assuming, assumptions here—I’m assuming he’ll be in the lineup sooner than later. Because at his age and experience level… What are his other options if he wants to stay on TV and in the business and make a good buck?”

Ross made it clear this hypothetical move wouldn’t be about money. And if it happens, it won’t be a full-circle moment just for Jericho—it’ll be one for JR too. Ross recalled how he and Jerry Brisco were instrumental in getting Jericho into WWE in the first place.

“I don’t think going to WWE is a matter over paychecks. I think he wants to end his career in wrestling in WWE.”

“I hired Chris Jericho. Jerry Brisco and I had a couple of meetings as I recall to get him pointed in the right direction.”

If Jericho really is WWE-bound, it could mean a major hit for AEW—and Ross didn’t shy away from that reality. But what surprised Ross the most? Just how secretive this situation has been.

“That’s a big loss for AEW. Jericho is a major player. He’s part of the foundation, the fabric of AEW.”

“I’m impressed with the tight-lipped nature of this proposition. I’m really impressed that the word has not got out.”

Jericho’s current AEW status and future remain a mystery, but JR seems confident the final chapter will be written under WWE’s banner. Whether it happens at WrestleMania or beyond, fans might want to prepare for one last WWE run from “The Ocho.”
