Los Angeles Lakers head coach JJ Redick delivered one of his most candid assessments yet as the team continues to wrestle with offensive inconsistency during a difficult stretch of the season.
After winning just two of their last six games and being outscored by a combined 84 points in four losses, Redick admitted he is still searching for solutions.
“I don’t know what else to do,” Redick told reporters on Saturday, via ESPN’s Dave McMenamin.

The Lakers’ head coach explained that the problems go beyond game nights and have shown up repeatedly in practice, where communication and execution have broken down.
“That’s happening so consistently right now,” Redick said. “I chalk it up to the holidays.”
The frustration carried into Friday night’s win over the Memphis Grizzlies, a game the Lakers managed to pull out despite struggling to execute simple instructions out of timeouts.
“I tried to call a dozen plays after a timeout,” Redick said. “Just four of which were run correctly.”
“Just a lot of slippage with execution,” Redick added. “You should be able to transfer 30 seconds of time delay from the clipboard to another. So that was kind of frustrating.”
One player at the center of the offensive conversation is DeAndre Ayton, who has failed to score more than 12 points in any of his last five starts.
Redick acknowledged that the big man’s struggles have been fueled by frustration on both sides of the ball.
“He doesn’t feel like he’s getting the ball,” Redick said, according to McMenamin. “There’s opportunities for him to duck in at times, and he’s not being active. There’s opportunities for us to hit him when he does duck in, we’re not hitting him.”
